Pandora’s Box

September 23, 2019 By

The first work I made using chicken wishbones was Pandora’s Box, a transparent frame constructed using more than 100 wishbones. It was my salon piece for the Chicago SAMA show in 2015 (?), and was purchased by then SAMA President Karen Ami. In taking this work to SAMA I was not deliberately attempting to provoke dispute in terms of its definition as mosaic. As an artist I was simply embarking on a new and different material path. I thank Karen for her support and have often wondered if her cat later ate it.
