CLASSICAL STYLE AUSTRALIAN BIRDS IN SMALTI AND MARBLE

Saturday 28 – Monday 30 October, 2023

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Inspired by recent travels to former Roman cities in Italy, Helen is very excited to launch a new course focusing on classical (Roman or Byzantine) mosaic renditions of native Australian birds. 

BYO native bird photograph (side view), suitable for a mosaic measuring approximately 30 – 40 cm. Also BYO glass smalti or marble and a suitable substrate. Course fee includes delicious morning and afternoon teas, lunch Saturday and Sunday; (self-catering and independent finishing of work on Monday).

CLASSICALLY INSPIRED CONTEMPORARY MOSAICS IN SMALTI AND MARBLE

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Creating a quirky twist on Greco-Roman (classical) mosaics has long been a passion of Helen’s. So whether you join her in  a modern take on the Unswept Floor or a psychedelic version of Roman geometric design, this course will offer fun new insights into old modes of making. 

BYO ideas, glass smalti or marble and suitable substrate for a work measuring approximately 30 – 40 cm. Course fee includes morning and afternoon teas, lunch Saturday and Sunday; (self-catering and independent finishing of work on Monday).

GET A GRIP

BEGINNERS

Get a Grip on mosaic as Helen takes you on a nurtured journey through its rich classical history, exploring their design and construction principles and how we apply them in design, cutting and construction of modern mosaics today. A friendly, easy course for the mosaic newcomer.

Course fee includes all mosaic materials (vitreous, porcelain and stone, substrates and glue), morning and afternoon teas, lunch Saturday and Sunday; (self-catering and independent finishing of work on Monday). $620
